De zakjesdrager of zakrupsvlinder in deze pagode vormige cocon schraapt het chlorofyl van het blad af waarna hij dat deel van het blad rondom afknaagt en vervolgens toegevoegd aan zijn mobiele huisje. De cocons zijn kenmerkend voor de soort, waardoor ze een makkelijker herkenningskenmerk vormen voor het onderscheiden van de verschillende soorten.
The bagworm inside the pagoda scrapes the chlorophyll off the leaf before incising cleanly around the area consumed, creating a circular wound. The excised leaf piece is then added to the bagworm’s protective casing. Bagworm cases range in size from less than 1 cm to 15 cm among some tropical species. Each species makes a case particular to its species, making the case more useful to identify the species than the creature itself.
