Monique, where do you find these :P really. I think you have a gps tagger sort of thing of them ;)

I really am a fan of mainly your spirit and skill to keep tracking such small and delicate subjects. Capturing them with such brilliant focus, colors, and composition is the level that you totally rock with :)

Great work. Good shot.

Kaneabel from London, United Kingdom

Nice shot! Very good colours! I wonder if a slightly higher f number would have allowed more of the fly to be in focus. The resulting decrease in shutter speed could be controlled by an increase in ISO-though, you may not have had the time to make all those adjustments before the fly flew away!!

29 Dec 2010 2:16pm

@Kaneabel: This damselfly was a very good model and I had all the time in the world to choose the settings I wanted. I love shallow DOF in my macro photos to create a more softer 'artistic' look opposite to 'registration' photos were you can see all the details but leave nothing to the imagination. Don't get me wrong, I also take 'registration' photos but I go through periods of preference. Thanks for your comment and suggestions Kaneabel, appreciated!

eversmile from Aix-en-Provence, France

Hi Monique

I don't know where you find your subjects, how you spot them, but once again, after your unforgettable little snake, you have flushed out a very captivating one, with a strong visual impact, thanks to the attractive contrast of colors between the flower an the background. There is a lot of pep in it and I like that... Could be in Thailand, could be in Costa Rica... I don't know but it makes me dream and travel... Congratulations!
Happy New year, madam!

@eversmile: Hello Marine and thank you for your nice comment! Glad you like my photos of the micro world surrounding us! I'm glad I'm not crawling on hands and knees through my garden in vain to find all these great insects ;)

dang from Atl., United States

Excellent, the markings on it are splendid.
Chuckle... I'm always crawling around chasing bugs and my neighbors think I'm nuts.
They're right! ;-)

@dang: I know the feeling ;) The Thais passing by on their mopeds almost fall of trying to figure out what I'm doing in the fields belly down :) Thanks for the comment Tom.
